Why eliminate one? I don’t see the point. Most of my customers are billed by word for translation and proof-reading and by hour for edition and PEMT. I bill a minimum charge fee to all small translations, although I have agreed on a special rate for two of my clients. One of my clients who usually sends large projects likes being billed a flat-rate per project…

So ... the worst of them all is perfectly fine? Aug 19

No one sees anything to object to when it comes to the worst of them all, one that is not even mentioned is this multiple choice list?

The one 'billing model in translation' that I personally consider as a running bad joke and an insult to any true professional is in fact perfectly fine?

I am not fully sure, Aug 22

but some agencies may accept agreed-upon hourly rates, but end up underestimating the time required for completion, resulting in more time being put into the project. In these cases, they put the underestimation directly in the Purchase Order.

You installed 3 taps but don't expect me to pay for all 3 of them.

The second one was a 100% repetition of the first one, so I'll pay you zilch for that one.

The third one was a fuzzy match with the first one so take 30% of the full price and shut up.

Or try this 'billing model' with your car mechanic:

A geezer from down the pub had a go at repairing my car, so you only need to put some finishing touches.

Not much work needed, I'll pay you half the price and of course I expect the car to work properly.

Perfectly good 'billing models' - nothing worth saying about them?

flat rate Aug 22

I don't like being payed by flat rate. I would be rather payed per word.
