Some other thoughts on these terms As the above context is engineering, there is a delicate issue I want to elaborate on to make the matter clear, and that's the existing differences between faultfinding, fault diagnosis, and troubleshooting. These terms have been used and translated in engineering context before, faultfinding have been translated asعیب یابی in more than a dozen engineering context and this is also the case for fault diagnosis, but in lesser extent I've also checked troubleshooting in none of the engineering fields عیب یابی was chosen as a translation but it has been translated so for as رفع عیب و اشکال یابی<br>with all due respect and thanks for your sincere opinions and also thanks to dear Ed, for reflecting his thoughts

Troubleshooting is probably the most common term in English technical literature for fixing a problem. Usually, there is a chart with a list of steps to help identify the problem (fault-finding/diagnosis) and then to correct the problem. Finally, there may be some more steps to verify that the problem has been corrected.

The other suggestions are not incorrect.

In cases like this, I usually go with the equivalent that would be used most often in the same situation in English.

"eib yabi" would literally be "fault finding" (and this is not incorrect), but I am sure the technical literature in Persian for this device means to cover the larger meaning of "troubleshooting".

The asker will need to determine which one is more correct for his translating.
