Eszabo, If you don't have enough space on the menu to put something like: Trinxat (a Catalan version of ....) personally, I would agree with Lisa and just put "bubble and squeak".
ESZABO (asker) Dec 5, 2009:
Rick, I guess I must explain it better, the menu is not to be of Catalan cuisine, I just happened to get the task of translating into English some international dishes - originally written in the Spanish language (!) - to be presented at a hotel in Búzios, Rio de Janeiro state, at New Year's eve. This mixture sounded rather confusing. It is, indeed!!! Thanks for your interest...
Rick Larg Dec 4, 2009:
I can't help but think that if the menu is to be of Catalan cuisine, it would be a better idea to keep the name of the dish in Catalan, with an explanation of its ingredients, etc. in English
Carol Gullidge Dec 4, 2009:
languages I thought trinxat was Catalan, but you've confused the issue by posting the rest of the question in Portuguese - hence my confusion. Perhaps it would be a good idea to translate the Portuguese part...
ESZABO (asker) Dec 4, 2009:
Hello, thanks for your entry, the term comes from the catalan cuisine, so its spanish-english translation I need for the composition of my english language menu of a Rio de Janeiro hotel (that's why it might have sounded awkward)... Thanks again! Elisabeth

wrong language? Are you sure this shouldn't be Portuguese>English?

trinxat/cabbage and potato cake

It is called the same in English, Trinxat, and it can alternatively be described by its ingredients, and be called "Cabbage and Potato Cake."

agree Jennifer Forbes : There's a recipe for "Trinxat" in a supplement to this week's Spectator magazine which simply calls it "trinxat" and says it's Catalan.

bubble and squeak/potato cabbage hash / cake

trinxat as I know it is a Catalan dish made with fried cabbage and potatoes, similar to the British "bubble and squeak" or a potato cabbage hash or cake (depending on if it's served loose or formed into a patty)
