4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "This does fit most in this context, especially with HStobbe's explanation. But since WIDIC was first to give this answern, I feel obliged to grant him the points."

disconnectedness

In the context of the development of a child with separated parents, this could very well cover the psychological notion alluded to.

unworldliness

(Link 1:)"Unworldliness: 1. Not of this world; spiritual.
2. Concerned with matters of the spirit or soul.
3. Not wise to the ways of the world; naive: "This now is the story of an unworldly young scientist" (John Simon)."

I think the 3rd description best describes "wereldvreemdheid", see also example senctence
Example sentence:

(Link 2:) I came to understand that my own focus on Harvard was a matter of not sophistication but narrowness. I grew up in an unworldly blue-collar environment.

"... (a certain) vulnerability"

A different optinon :-)
I think that this fits in quite well in the context you have described. Just as children from broken homes face many challenges, they are sometimes more 'vulnerable' to those preying upon them.

"Divorce Effects On Children-Vulnerability: Because of their insecurity and low self-esteem, children of divorce are highly vulnerable. Since their world seems to be built on shifting sand, they easily attach themselves to anyone offering a consistent standard of behavior. This makes gangs and cults particularly attractive. Their desire to prop up their self-esteem often drives them to seek approval anywhere they can find it...abusing drugs with friends or performing sexual favors for classmates or pedophiles. Visit our pages on Abuse Survivors Recovery and Addiction Management Recovery to be prepared for the day your child will face these choices."
Peer comment(s):

disagree Lianne van de Ven : I think you take it too liberally in another direction. There is not that much context, but it is a statement about (the effect of) sects.

Thank you for your remark, but I have to disagree. As stated above, it's about the child, not the sect: "Context: het betreft een onderzoek naar het gevaar dat een kind van gescheiden ouders loopt." Hij loopt gevaar because he's vulneralbe.
