But once more Nadal won the big points. Federer had two match points with Nadal serving at 5-6, 15-40 in the final set. But he missed forehands on both opportunities.

Note from asker:
Thanks a lot Cecilia. But I should tell you that in the example you're providing me: "But once more Nadal won the big points..." I think it's making reference to the IMPORTANT points that Nadal won in a specific match against Federer, that in the end lead to the winning of the match. What i'm trying to find out, is refering to the points that the ATP circuit gives to a player who wons a specific tournament.
Peer comment(s):

agree Emma Goldsmith : Yes, the big (ATP) points that can be won at a Masters 1000 or a Grand Slam. These are the big points on the tennis calendar.

Thank you so much for your support, Emma!
agree Neil Ashby : The Big Points - the article is referring to the fact that these 2 tournaments carry a great reward in ATP points for the winners/finalists/semi-finalists etc. BIG/GORDO is referring to the QUANTITY not the IMPORTANCE (individually every pt. is important)

the all important points

An idea "the all important points" (ATP ranking).

En el Tour hay más torneos de canchas duras y rápidas, que reparten ** puntos gordos ** para el escalafón, que de los otros, de los que favorecen a Nadal.

It is true that Nadal had the least to lose and Federer had the most to lose in defending their rankings. I believe, it does refer to the ATP ranking points.

HTH!

Gracias Cecilia. I believe, given the "context", that your response is equally valid. Thank you again. Buen domingo y abrazos.
agree translations_ : I think that "all important" is a better fit with the entire statement.

most countable points

I'd say you could use another word in journalism in the name of style, but ATP itself calls these "countable points" (in response to your query).
