A header in a list of goal/objectives for an architectural project.I just can't put my finger on the term in English. 'Aesthetic pursuit' maybe?

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): B D Finch

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

What about aesthetic concern(s)
Helen Shiner Nov 23, 2010:
Architectural practice Normally, there are two aspects of an architectural project that would require 'research' on behalf of the architects themselves. One is site constraints and the other is materials. Architects don't tend to waffle on about 'aesthetics' per se on their websites. They just refer to design work, design concept, and such like. To be honest, without actually seeing the text (perhaps you forget we can't see it, Lisa) I'm finding this difficult. It's just a guessing game.
B D Finch Nov 23, 2010:
Aesthetic context Possibly?
Richardson Lisa (asker) Nov 23, 2010:
Yes Hi Helen
Yes, it's a header for each section of the text, so one might be about the interior design, the next about materials used and so on. Each section just gives a short description and the header introduces the subject so 'Recherche esthétique dans l'aménagement' 'proportions'etc. This is not a preliminary site evaluation as it's about a completed project. I'm now thinking along the lines of 'the aesthetic conception of....' but that's clumsy or maybe 'the aesthetic dimension...'
Helen Shiner Nov 23, 2010:
Lisa, again I presume this is part of the preliminary site evaluation. Or is it about choice of materials? What surrounds this term on your list? What comes before it and after it? Sorry, but this is hard work....
Richardson Lisa (asker) Nov 23, 2010:
@Helen I believe it's for a website for an architectural practice - so the audience could be anybody interested in having something built. It's not too technical, although it does contain some basic technical info, it's mainly about the concept and design of the project. Sorry, I can't come up with anything more, hope that helps...
Helen Shiner Nov 23, 2010:
@ Lisa by whom (what sort of person) and who is the intended audience, please? We cannot help you without this information.
Richardson Lisa (asker) Nov 23, 2010:
@Helen It's a description of a completed architectural project (domestic architecture).
Helen Shiner Nov 23, 2010:
Lisa Sorry, but what is the context?
Richardson Lisa (asker) Nov 23, 2010:
context Hi Helen and Claude
Yes, research won't really fit here...it's a problem as it crops up throughout the text. It's more the notion of conception or idea I think. 'recherche esthétique dans l'amenagement' and 'dans le rapport avec...'. I also have it round the other way with 'l'esthetisme recherché'
All ideas welcome
Helen Shiner Nov 23, 2010:
Hi Lisa Could you give us some more context? Is this research done by an architectural practice, in which case I doubt they would say 'aesthetic research', or is it, say, part of a degree course in architecture, in which case, I should think it would be appropriate? Context is all.
claude-andrew Nov 23, 2010:
Suggestions (a)esthetic aspects and (a)esthetic design come up quite a lot when googled.
"aesthetic" gets 3 times as many hits as "esthetic".

A question of aesthetics

a suggestion,
just following on from discussion entries where it seems that the headings for each section of text are quite general to describe this completed project. This wording, perhaps with a ?, has the advantage of allowing a variety of interpretations.
