Notarial first copy

The copia simple is the first copy issued by the Notary once the original has been signed in front of him/her. In Spain, it is an official copy and, although "uncertified" can only be issued by the Notary witnessing the original document and therefore has equal, if not more, value than a certified copy - which is why it states in your document that the copia simple must be original. (A copy of the first copy is invalid unless certified, etc).

The front page bears "Es copia simple" and all pages of a copia simple stamped/sealed by the issuing Notary.

Hope this helps.

Simple notarized exemplar

(As distinct from, e.g., a certified copy of the notarized exemplar, or from, e.g., a copy on some kind of official fee paper.)
The s.n.e. is then authenticated in a Public Instrument (escritura pública) e.g. via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
