French term

cristallisoir

French to English Tech/Engineering Manufacturing pharmaceutical packaging/processing
"Pré-visser manuellement les caps blanches en sortie de sertisseuse. Ranger les flacons remplis et pré-vissés en **cristallisoirs**."

and

"Sur le convoyeur de la sertisseuse, les capuchons seront déposés et prévisses manuellement. Les flacons sont à ranger dans des **cristallisoirs** en attendant le vissage définitif : ranger 130 flacons par **cristallisoir** pour le format 5 ml, ranger 99 flacons par **cristallisoir** pour le format 17 ml."

From standard operating procedures for a filling machine for a pharmaceutical product.

I am not sure that 'crystalliser' is right here - but I don't really know... Does it just mean some sort of cooler perhaps (the point being the product needs to be kept cool while waiting for the bottles to be sealed)?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Discussion

I did find the word 'crystallizer' for petbottles on different sites.
Karen Tkaczyk Oct 14, 2011:
Agree it's odd Hi, I agree that 'crystalliser' seems unlikely in this context. I had a quick look online for something specific, but can't find anything. I wonder if 'case' or might be a decent option.
Isabelle Berquin Oct 14, 2011:
rack? True. In that case, I wonder if it might simply be a rack?

Re 'crystallising dish' I know this can be a glass (or other) dish for evaporation, but it is hard to see how and why you would use one here (for already filled bottles). There is nothing mentioned about evaporation and it seems quite unlikely to me. It is also fairly standard practice to place caps on by hand before machine tightening, so I don't think I would read too much into that.

crystallizing dish

GDT (topics: laboratory, instrument)

The fact that the screw caps on the tubes are preclosed manually makes me think that there might be an evaporation step before the final cap tightening (which you might be able to check in the procedure). Therefore, it may be best to specify the type of dish. Note that some crystallizing dishes are not made of glass.

crystallizing dish

Maybe? As per GDT definition? And then there's the TLFi definition:

Cristallisoir, subst. masc., chim. Récipient en verre, cylindrique, à bord peu élevé, dans lequel peut s'effectuer la cristallisation d'un corps en solution.

Low confidence because this is not my field.
