French term

roches éruptives

French to English Science Geology
This is from a study on the environmental impact of aggregates. I'm not sure about "roches éruptives" here, but I suspect they are rocks of volcanic origin as opposed to rocks formed by mineral deposits?

Here is the sentence:

"roches massives éruptives et calcaires et roches meubles"

Many thanks

@ kashew You was quicker than me and posted the same answer while I was still collecting sources and references (Not seen before. I started my research, only "volcanic rock" being posted).

Igneous Rocks form by crystallization of molten (melted) material; either magma (within the earth) or lava (on the surface of the earth).

agree Joshua Pepper : To the asker: please note that there is very specific vocabulary for this! Volcanic is a subcategory of igneous rock. I think igneous and magmatic are pretty much equivalent.

Volcanic rocks

I believe you are right when you say they are of volcanic origin. The word "eruptive" definitely brings to mind anything volcanic, in French or English.
Peer comment(s):

agree Guy Bray : usually extrusive or volcanic (magmatic and igneous include non-eruptive (intrusive) rocks)
