I'd be very grateful for any help with this phrase. It's not so much a matter of not understanding but of not finding a way to say it!
My brain's tied in a knot, and I just can't find a way to express this neatly in English, even though the author has given me the explanations below:
#"Practicas" se refiere a modos concretos de operar cuestiones culturales. Prohibir hablar idioma extranjero en espacios públicos es una práctica cultural. También la sanción cultural o hacer el vacío a quien habla en otro idioma es una practica. No siempre son leyes o prohibiciones.
#·Agency es un concepto de la ciencia de la cultura: la capacidad de operar una práctica. Publicar un artículo o libro que participa en el Discurso de la identidad es tener agency.
·#"The notion of civic agency gains relevance in the discussions about declining participation in democracy. Normally "agenciamiento" just corresponds to "agency" in contemporary cultural discourse. Rather than "agency practices", which tends to suggest things that agencies get up to, I think "practices of agency" could be used. Of course, it might not be best in all contexts.
