French term

respirante

French to English Medical Medical (general) Cardiology
This is from a transthoracic echo report:

La VCI est mesurée à 17 mm, respirante à 30%, sans épanchement péricardique.

So the inferior vena cava is 17 mm in diameter and there is no pericardial effusion.

I can only find a couple of references to "respirante" in this context and can't seem to find the correct term in English.

Is it referring to the respiratory variation?

Thank you in advance for any guidance.
Proposed translations (English)

Thanks very much to you both. Found some helpful references now too and agree that it's talking about the collapsibility of the vessel during respiration.
