I am sure that the tapparelle is a "Steel Hinged Plate Conveyors" , ie. conveyor belts with a little bar to push items. (see http://www.directindustry.it/prod/mtf-technik-hardy-schurfel... hence I suggest "hinged plate converyor buffer"
