Discussion

Angie Garbarino Dec 10, 2018:
So the system choose the answer "Agree with..." Useful for the glossary I must say
Charles Davis Feb 22, 2015:
I particularly like the names of rests in French. A semiquaver rest is a "quart de soupir", a "soupir" being a crotchet rest.
Charles Davis Feb 22, 2015:
And if it's going into American English, double croche is a sixteenth note.
Nikki Scott-Despaigne Feb 22, 2015:
But you have to be very careful. A "double croche" is a "semi-quaver" for example. A "croche" is a "quaver" not a crotchet for example. Some are misleading so you do need a minimum amount of knowledge, or the reflex to look up and compare.
Check out Google images. That'll set it straight for you.
Ye--ha! I knew my Grade 8 bassoon and my grade 7 piano would come in handy on ProZ one day!
writeaway Feb 22, 2015:
What is the problem here? It's everyday music terminology. You will find it if you look up "croche" in the dictionary.

neutral writeaway : just look up 'croche' in any Fr-En dictionary, if that is actually necessary

Although some terminological notions are necessary otherwise you could get "hooked" ;-)
