French term

poste SAS antivirus

French to English Tech/Engineering IT (Information Technology)
This is in a document describing an information system that will be setup between two companies to exchange data and provide specific software to the industrial project participants. This system is highly confidential and features many security systems.
In the description of the hardware, there is a list of the different workstations including one:

un poste SAS antivirus

It is also found in:

Un poste SAS antivirus doit être disponible pour réaliser des analyses antivirus et antimalware de DVD

Un poste de travail standard (sas d'import/export des données)

I don't quite understand what it refers to? Any ideas?

Discussion

Tony M Feb 22, 2017:
@ Asker The idea pretty clearly seems to be some kind of 'airlock' device, but "virus airlock" only returns about one meaningful Ghit, which itself seemd to be a translation. A quick search on other plausible terms in the same vein failed to reveal anything better...
jessjess (asker) Feb 22, 2017:
Hello everyone,

I have come across another sentence that may help:

un SAS d'import export est mis en place pour l'importation / Exportation des données sur un graveur DVD, ses ports usb sont activés mais ont des droits limités pour que
des supports amovibles type Clé USB ne puisse pas être utilisés

sheep dip

The "poste sas" part makes me think it's talking about a stand-alone computer here.
Example sentence:

A sheep dip is normally a stand-alone computer, not connected to any network. It has antivirus software in order to scan removable media and to protect the sheep dip computer itself.

agree Mair A-W (PhD) : looks v likely!

SUPER ANTI SPYWARE

this is what I found ...
Note from asker:
Hi Mary, I had come across that when browsing through the internet but I wasn't sure because it seemed redundant to say antivirus super anti spyware. But then again maybe that makes sense?
Thank you very much!
Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : Where? Could we have a ref. for that, please? / I don't think the proper name of a piece of software really fits in the context here.

It seems to be the name of an antimalware product: https://www.google.it/search?q=SAS antimalware&ie=utf-8&oe=u...

sandbox

sas (dict: airlock) may refer to a controlled environment where limited operations can be carried out before moving on to the main workstation; in English this is probably covered by the notion of a sandbox
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandbox_(computer_security)

Gateway

Plenty of GHits for both the antivirus and import/export versions. I think Sas is a back-translation of Gateway

poste analytique SAS

SAS is also a software company specialized in statistical analytics used in the past for econometrics but more and more used by IT security departments to analyse suspicious anomalous Web behaviour

Thank you very much!

agree Yolanda Broad : That's the SAS that leapt to mind for me.
