English term

dispense the shot

English to Polish Other Food & Drink
Temat robienia Americano w ekspresie do kawy.

"Add the appropriate amount of hot water into the cup and dispense the shot on top of hot water." - normalnie rozumiałbym to jako "nalej kawy na wodę" ale później jest inne zdanie: "Dispense twice the normal amount of water through the shot and complete with hot water", więc ta kawa coś mi nie pasuje.

Andrzej Mierzejewski Apr 23, 2019:
Z kontekstu wychodzi mi, że:

1. shot = kapsułka - jak w https://www.stokbrew.com/cold-brew/cold-brew-coffee-shots/24... .

2. shot = zawartość kapsułki (zmielona kawa).

...i dodatkowa...

3. odmierzana przez ekspres porcja zmielonej kawy (proszku) - gdy bez kapsułek, ekspres miele ziarna.

Americano Perfectly Temped Water, Etc. Something Dan wrote in his review of the Alex Duetto made me think that it was worth posting this idiosyncratic set of instructions (which may work for your particular circumstances, or not).

Pull a double shot into an appropriate 6oz mug or glass
Remove the pf from the head;
Knock the puck into the knock box;
Give the basket a quick rinse with water from the tap;
Replace the pf; and
Run temped brew water through the pf into the cup.

There is no need for too hot water from your machine's tap, nor the trouble of preparing water separately when water of exactly the same temperature of the water used to brew the shot -- perfectly temped water because you just perfectly temped it your own damn self -- is right in front of you.

dawka/porcja [kawy na] espresso Caffè Americano or Americano is a type of coffee drink prepared by diluting an espresso with hot water, giving it a similar strength to, but different flavor from, traditionally brewed coffee. The strength of an Americano varies with the number of shots of espresso and the amount of water added.

[cut]

The drink consists of a single or double shot of espresso brewed with added water.- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caffé_Americano

Americano
In a nutshell, the definition of an Americano is a shot of espresso diluted with hot water. You probably at this point are thinking to yourself, “Well, isn’t that just normal coffee?”

However, the resulting beverage, when hot water is added to dilute an espresso, is not identical to that of coffee. Espresso has a different flavor than, say, drip-made coffee. Therefore, when you combine some hot water with an espresso, the resulting beverage takes on a more espresso-like flavor, even though it has about the same strength as “normal American coffee.”

Most espresso connoisseurs agree that an Americano has a different (and much better) flavor.

shot

Generally, one uses an espresso machine to make espresso. The act of producing a shot of espresso is often termed "pulling" a shot, originating from lever espresso machines, which require pulling down a handle attached to a spring-loaded piston, forcing hot water through the coffee at high pressure. Today, however, it is more common for the pressure to be generated by an electric pump.

The single shot is the traditional shot size, being the maximum that could easily be pulled on a lever machine.

The length of the shot can be ristretto (or stretto) (reduced), normale/standard (normal), or lungo (long)
