French term
patient appareillé [in this context]
French to English
Medical
Medical (general)
I know this has been asked before and I have previously (in other contexts) translated this in other ways, namely as, "patient who uses a CPAP machine", but the context here has left me unsure.
So, this is from a urine microscopy and culture lab report, coming under the heading:
IUI assisted reproductive technology consent no. XXX
EXAMEN D'URINES
ECBU
CHEZ UN PATIENT APPAREILLE
Prélèvement apporté au Laboratoire
Heure de recueil: 19:00
sur dispositif de sonde
So is this just a urine sample from a catheter?
I can only think that it is relevant that the patient is "equipped" with a catheter....I'm not sure a pacemaker/CPAP machine here would be entirely relevant?!?
Thanks in advance.

patient wearing a medical device
Hi,
The wording is pretty vague and I would preserve its ambiguity when translating, without inferring the type of device. It can be anything from the list below, or even a prosthesis, regardless of how much/little it influences the urine sample. It could even be a diabetes monitoring device - the patient would still fall into the *appareillé* category, but that would definitely impact the sample. To be as inclusive as possible, ambiguity is key here, in my opinion - an umbrella term should be used, to keep you away for possible misinterpretations.
Just my two cents :)
