German term

Fluidisierungspilz

German to English Tech/Engineering Engineering: Industrial additive manufacturing, plastic and metal powders
It's in a list of parts, so little context. Managed to find a picture of one on the Internet: they are, as the name suggests, roughly mushroom-shaped. Have called them "fluidiser attachments" for the want of anything better.

Discussion

D. I. Verrelli Dec 29, 2019:
"Managed to find a picture of one on the Internet" As the Asker found a picture online, it would make sense for the Asker to post a link to that picture, so that we will all know that we are looking at the same thing....
Chris Pr Nov 15, 2019:
Robert... ...'mushroom' used as a noun is not an accepted engineering term, imho.
Kim Metzger Nov 5, 2019:
Robert, list of parts for what?

Fluidization Mushroom

I found this reference from an AIR BLASTERS manufacturer with the term "Fluidization Mushroom".

agree philgoddard : I think the simplest solution is the best.

disagree Chris Pr : "Mushroom" as a noun is not an accepted engineering term...

disagree D. I. Verrelli : The cited reference neither mentions nor relates to "fluidization"/"fluidisation", and merely contains valves with "mushroom"-shaped caps or handles. I see negligible evidence, so far, that the proposed term is used by native speakers of English.

Peer comment(s):

disagree D. I. Verrelli : Sorry, I think you may be confused about the meaning of "mesh" in the academic articles cited. They're not referring to a physical grid of metal/plastic/etc.. Rather, they're referring to the computational arrangement of subregions used for calculation.

In most cases, they are shaped like a mushroom with a circular cap."

Peer comment(s):

neutral D. I. Verrelli : "Fluidisation nozzle"/"Fluidization nozzle" is OK, but I am not at all convinced, yet, that "mushroom nozzle" is a term used by native speakers. https://www.bing.com/search?q=+"mushroom nozzle" fluidisatio... Can optionally prefix "mushroom-shaped".
