A/D lock error

Manual of a programmable electrical device. In the troubleshooting, I find:

E6
A/D lock error
Not fixable by user, please contact XXX.

A/D lock does not appear anywhere else in the document.

Any idea?

A/D lock doesn't need to appear again anywhere else OTOH knowing what's in the rest of the document would definitely help as there MUST BE some related terms that give an indication what exactly "A/D" is and in which way it could be "locked"

Nothing to do with analogue to digital I'm afraid. It is a laboratory equipment, that can be plugged, set-up manually or programmably, and perform lab procedures.

I just hoped that it was some kind of standard engineering jargon I never encountered before.

@ Asker It depends a bit on exactly WHAT this device actually is.
Usually, I'd have expected A/D to stand for Analogue-to-Digital — but without more context, it's hard to see what this would have to do with any kind of 'locking', or why that would produce such a serious error!
