BCAG

español al inglés Otros Medicina: Cardiología Medical report
I am working on a medical journal article that mentions CABG - Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery and BCAG from Colombia. Both are mentioned in one paragraph and I can't find any reference to it online that fits with what I'm reading. It may be medical, or geographical? It doesn't seem to be related to a clinic or seem to be a recognised Spanish acronym.

Discussion

Dominique Anderson (asker) Nov 7, 2020:
Not sure how much I can post, but this is all from the one paragraph...

context Agree with Chema. More context is always useful; in this case (and in most cases) it would help tremendously to see the complete sentence -- in Spanish -- where this BCAG initialism appears, not just the term itself and the English discussion. When we see specifically, in context, what they're takling about then we can make a more educated guess about what's intended.
Dominique Anderson (asker) Nov 6, 2020:
Unfortunately it is... One of the sentences does refer to "...el periodo posquirurigico del bypass cardiopulmonar..." (Sorry, English keyboard.) I feel like it's the Spanish version of the acronym/phrase and that they reverted to the English version for most of the document... It hasn't gone into materials used yet (and I'm not sure it will given the hypothesis of the study).

Is BCAG mentioned more than once? If not, I would think it is a typo.

BCAG - Bovine Carotid Artery Graft

Maybe it refers to this technique. If CABG is mentioned by its English acronym, perhaps the same is true of this term. It is certainly the one I've found the most references to.

CABG

Cosnautas

Cosnautas is the most comprehensive online resource for Spanish medical initialisms / acronyms. In this case, unfortunately, BCA is not found here (which may suggest it's a typo). Just mentioning Cosnautas as a very helpful resource in the future. It's free to use; you just have to register for the site.
