It means it’s Eighth Joint National Committee (JNC 8) - :The Eighth Joint National Committee (JNC 8) guidelines for the management of high blood pressure were published in late 2013 - http://www.christimres.com/uploads/7/0/7/6/70764707/the_eigh...

Source The line with systemic arterial hypertension and III JNC 8 might have been easier to interpret if you had posted it in the original Spanish. It's always best, for your colleagues to see, to post the source text rather than your translated text.

JNC 8 can indeed be found easily in a Google search.

I would never waste your time by not doing some research first. Still do not understand what this reference is doing under "Diagnostic impression." And it's an English acronym thrown into a Spanish document, and the whole document is incredibly sloppy, which makes me want to be extra careful. I always value your input.

Again, you need to do a bit of Googling before you post questions. The first hit appears to have at least a part of the answer.

stage III hypertension according to JNC 8

The Seventh Report of the Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Treatment of High Blood Pressure (JNC7) published in 2003

The Seventh Report of the Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Treatment of High Blood Pressure (JNC7) published in 2003

JNC7 distinguishes hypertension stage I, hypertension stage II, and isolated systolic hypertension. Isolated systolic hypertension refers to elevated systolic pressure with normal diastolic pressure and is common in the elderly.[28] The ESH-ESC Guidelines (2007)[89] and BHS IV (2004)[90] additionally define a third stage (stage III hypertension) for people with systolic blood pressure exceeding 179 mmHg or a diastolic pressure over 109 mmHg.
