English term

scope

Non-PRO English to French Other Manufacturing
Hello,

In the erection and delivery contract, I came across this sentence :

The Purchaser has the right to select the final scope of spare parts. The price will be adjusted accordingly.

Euhhh ...scope of spare parts having an effect on price ?

Are we talking about "dimensions" here ? Or "domaine d'application" ? With the later, I don't understand why the price would change.

Thanks for the help!

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

PRO (1): Cyril Tollari

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Éventail

Bonjour,
Note from asker:
Oui, on parle de pièces de rechange (détachées). Eventail, dans ce cas, reviendrait à dire "quantité", n'est ce pas ? Un peu comme "étendue" suggéré par Emmanuella. Qu'en dites vous ?
Peer comment(s):

agree Yves Antoine : étendue, https://www.larousse.fr/dictionnaires/anglais-francais/scope...

agree Jennifer Levey : This neatly covers 2 aspects, both of which affect price: 1. the list of parts for which spares will be held (spares of some parts may not be necessary because they never wear out); 2. how many of each listed item will be bought?

Nombre

Oui en effet, éventail renvoie à quantité mais à une notion de type de pièces.
