physically restrained from itching

Non-PRO English to French Medical Livestock / Animal Husbandry dermatologie/chiens
Extremely Severe Itching/almost continuous.
Itching doesn’t stop whatever is happening, even in the consulting room (needs to be physically restrained from itching)
Je suppose que dans un cas "itching" signifie "démangeaisons" et dans l'autre "grattage"

New Fowler The new Fowler I acquired today (which is less high-brow than my old edition, and I expect less humourous too) has an entry for 'itch' which includes "2. A more down-market transitive use, restricted to AmE, is 'to scratch (an itchy part of the body)' as in: 'Don't itch your leg. You can't do that on stage - Chicago Tribune'.

itch = scratch for some people Note that some people use 'itch' to mean 'scratch'. My US Webster's gives this usage as colloquial. No mention of it in my UK dictionaries.

JM, le chien doit être immobiliser pour pouvoir être examiné car il se gratte en permanence; mais je sais pas si ça aide…

J’ai essayé de ne pas utiliser le “street language “ de mon chien, mais bon…peut-être je me plante….faites des propositions plutôt. que rien! Se gratter les couil…. Ne me semble pas adapté mais bon….
