Spanish term

Sede de Conclusiones

Spanish to English Law/Patents Law (general)
"A modo de cierre, extrapólense los alegatos plasmados a la consideración que se hizo en Sede de Conclusiones respecto del Affidavit de IPF, no pudiendo incidir en modo alguno el código normativo inglés."

Not clear about Sede de Conclusiones in this context. I think it means something like "with respect to" or "as part of" the court of judges final conclusions/decision.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

@ Phil Indeed - and some of the comments I was referring to have now been removed. I am totally happy with friendly disagreement.
philgoddard Feb 3, 2023:
Not unpleasant at all There's nothing wrong with friendly disagreement.
Jane Martin Feb 3, 2023:
Can I just say that the tone of some of the comments posted here has been quite unpleasant. We are all professional translators trying to help a fellow translator with a difficult term. There is absolutely no reason to - as Phil says - shoot others' answers down in flames'. A polite disagree and explanation is all that is needed. Just saying.
AllegroTrans Feb 3, 2023:
The Court... and only the Court, makes conclusions, i.e. resulting in a judgment/order
The parties can make "concluding arguments/submissions" but these are not conclusions
In English legal parlance these (and other written documents such as a claim, defence, counterclaim etc.) are usually referred to as pleadings
Sandro Tomasi Feb 3, 2023:
@Phil You said you don't believe "conclusiones" is a false friend. You are correct.

Black’s Law Dictionary states, “conclusion. 1. The final part of a speech or writing (such as a jury argument or a pleading).”

I’ll tell you what, though, in my neck of the woods, “closing aruments” and “summation” are commonly used. What about yours?
philgoddard Feb 2, 2023:
My suggestion 'During the conclusions/closing arguments'.

I'm not going to submit this since everyone (including me) seems to be shooting everyone else down in flames!

I don't believe "conclusiones" is a false friend. It means what it says.
AllegroTrans Feb 2, 2023:
Lisa Way off-beam, again
Lisa Rosengard Feb 2, 2023:
The conclusions can be the research from investigation or findings which can then be considered for evaluation before reaching a summation or final decision.
Lisa Rosengard Feb 2, 2023:
I suggest it means: 'By means of closure, extrapolate (analyse, assess, evaluate and attempt to understand) the allegations captured in consideration, which were made on the Case of Conclusions with respect to written statements by oath, unable to incite the code of normative (standard) English in any way.' The Case of Conclusions could be the formative and decisive evaluation of the allegations which were made and could have been difficult to consider or understand.
Stuart and Aida Nelson Feb 2, 2023:
Sandro Yes, I also understand it to be the part when the closing arguments or summation takes place.
Sandro Tomasi Feb 2, 2023:
alegatos / conclusiones Wouldn't this be closing arguments and summation?
philgoddard Feb 2, 2023:
I think you're parsing the sentence wrongly, perhaps influenced by the incorrect capitals.
"En sede de" simply means "in":

(I think the wrong answer was chosen here.)
Toni Castano Feb 2, 2023:
@Dan Can you confirm if your text deals with the Spanish "jurisdicción contencioso-administrativa"?
Stuart and Aida Nelson Feb 2, 2023:
Sede de conclusiones with respect or as a part...

Can the conclusions be a part of the consideration of legal issues?

In a trial, the consideration of legal issues takes place first and then the conclusions follow.

IMHO, the source paragraph is not very well written. I also find very confusing:

a la consideración que se hizo en Sede de Conclusiones.

As I understand, after reading the paragraph again, a la consideración goes together with extrapolar : extrapólense a la consideración, which can be understood in different ways...

Or is it plasmados a la consideración ?
Stuart and Aida Nelson Feb 2, 2023:
La consideración se hizo en Sede de Conclusiones, la cual está escrita en mayúsculas.

The 'al cierre' is misleading and ought not to be 'extrapolated' to the conclusions cf. conclusions in French as first-stage or +amended+ pleadings.

neutral AllegroTrans : Only answer not to fall into the false friend trap

disagree philgoddard : Sede doesn't mean venue here. Try fitting it into the sentence - it simply doesn't work. Also, your first reference says "conclusions".

agree Toni Castano : This might be a right answer too (we just don´t know actually, since the asker doesn´t respond to any questions). And "Sede" (capitalized!) could also mean what you say. I cannot accept the previous disagree.

disagree Zorra Renard : Venue isn't the right term here, sorry.
