If only I had 300,000 words of patents urgently needing translation into Italian. Life's a bitch.

I do wonder, though, why anyone would spend so much time around here when already making over $1000 a day. Shouldn't you be at the casino sipping champagne?

I think most successful translators will have achieved that daily figure at some (very busy) point or other, but averaging that level would be a right bas - I mean, er, would be somewhat challenging. On the other hand, to take a glass-half-full approach, it's only £770 a day, so about £17,000 a month assuming 22 working days. A low five-figure (GBP) income per month is certainly feasible, so if the stars align, £17,000 might be possible. But you'd probably be too tired to sip champagne. Freelance translation doesn't scale. It's all on you.
