Dutch term
geluksmomentje
Dutch to English
Marketing
General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
marketing speak
This is a marketing text full of marketing speak, featuring other Dutch gems such as:
- "Biedt een product of dienst echter een stukje ontzorging, service of een ***geluksmomentje*** dan is dat van waarde voor de consument."
- "Het ontbijtmoment claimen en groot maken."
- "Het uitnutten van het koffiemoment."
- "Pauze en/of genietmomentje verder invullen."
- "wegdroommomentjes"
It seems that I got all of the Dutch "momentjes" in one text, just my luck;)
geluksmomentje,
genietmomentje,
koffiemoment,
ontbijtmoment,
pauze momentje,
rust momentje,
wegdroommomentje!

a little sparkle in the day, a fleeting moment of happiness, a red-letter moment, a silver lining...
Dit zijn twee waar ik zo aan denk, maar de mogelijkheden zijn eindeloos! Hou je niet aan de voorgeschreven dingen, maar verzin zelf wat met een "play on words", bijvoorbeeld. Succes!
Note from asker:
Wow, thanks Willemina! I really like, "red-letter moment", and think I might use that here. I had actually never heard of that phrase yet;) |
Hmm, I think I might go with "happy moment" in the end. My fiancee just informed me that a "red letter day" is more when something important/memorable/special happens in your life, like getting married, graduating, etc. But since my sentence reads, "Biedt een product of dienst echter een stukje ontzorging, service of een ***geluksmomentje*** dan is dat van waarde voor de consument.", I think simply using "happy moment" might be better here. Like e.g., 'I like to start every day with a happy moment by looking in the mirror and saying, "Hey, gorgeous"!' |

: Yes, among other things. Usually it's "red-letter day" but googling shows "r-l moment" is in use. And now that Willemina has jump-started my imagination, "significant", "important", "meaningful", "pleasurable" or "happy" moments (or times) come to mind.

Thank you. I made "red-letter moment" up myself as I feel in these kind of text some "play with words" and imagination does not go amiss. All those "momentjes" don't feature in "Het Groene Boekje" either...

I would use something with pure enjoyment or unadulterated bliss ...

I don't envy you, Michael.
No help here (so far), but I've thrown them into the hopper and will be mulling them over in the back of my mind while I do some rather more congenial work myself.
