Spanish term

pescar la memoria

Non-PRO Spanish to English Art/Literary Idioms / Maxims / Sayings General
somebody hears and old song, and says "Eso pesca mi memoria." Any idea what this means?

Discussion

Richard Hill Oct 22, 2012:
Without more context, I get the feeling that "brings back memories" is the way to go, as "rings a bell" suggests that the listener doesn't quite remember it. Or do you have more context that suggests "rings a bell" is right?
offset (asker) Oct 22, 2012:
rings a bell thanks for the prompt response!

brings back memories

Had thought "rings a bell" first, but this seems right.

That takes me back

A UK saying that goes with the context here
Note from asker:
Thanks, Lord Byron! We say that here, too, sometimes: «that takes me back». Once the author has weighed in with his comments, I'll read it through cold and make a decision.
