Dutch term

wat er leeft bij iemand

Dutch to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
Feels like more than just what people think.

Title: Changing people's perceptions and behavior through partnerships and education: followup on a case study from Minnesota
Description: A follow-up survey of residents in southeastern Minnesota shows that environmental values were stable over a 5-year period. The authors were unable to measure any impacts of a Minnesota Department of Natural Resources comprehensive watershed planning initiative in the Wells Creek watershed on residents' behaviors and attitudes and perceptions about the environment.

Project: Perceptions of crime on Public Transport - 5 Year Review
Objectives
This project is intended to assess the impact of people\'s perceptions of personal security on the level of use of public transport, building on the last Departmental survey in 1996. It will also identify measures which would improve perceptions of personal security and identify impact of DfT\'s policies on people\'s priorities.
Description
People\'s perceptions of crime significantly affect their travel behaviour. Previous research has shown potential for significantly more public transport travel if people felt more secure. Our research shows that the travelling public only considers a journey as safe as the weakest link. That research was undertaken in five years ago and it would be timely to review people\'s levels of concern and what would influence them to change their travel patterns and use public transport more.

how someone feels

I think it's more to do with how people feel - people's perceptions - than what they know. E.g. whether they feel safe going out at night, whether they feel safe in their homes, etc.
Peer comment(s):

neutral hirselina : A bit too narrow, it's about ideas, opinions, attitudes, feelings

neutral EgonWegh : with hirselina: people's opinions (hence in source text: opinie-onderzoek), it's what the Germans call 'Volksempfinden'

what matters most to someone and their thoughts and feelings

what makes someone tick

Maybe a bit more informal, but it does cover "it" all.

Just a thought.
