One difficulty is in interpreting what precisely leads to live births. Grammatically, at least, it cannot be the "embryos", even though they are juxtaposed at the end of the sentence. Rather, it would have to be either the "techniques"/"technologies" or a "use"/"application". I think the latter makes the most sense in the given context. Reading the passage literally, there is no mention of an intention or goal or objective. I suggest that it could be paraphrased: "[any] use of genome editing techniques in human embryos that leads to live births" and "[any] application of these powerful technologies on human embryos that leads to live births" |
