ap

English translation: Initials of the typist

15:25 Feb 8, 2022
Finnish to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical (general) / Medical abbreviations ap
Finnish term or phrase: ap
This abbreviation occurs after the names of several different physicians in a medical record. For example:

"vs. eval [physician name]/ap"

(Don't worry about the other abbreviations, I know those, I just can't figure out ap.)

English translation:Initials of the typist
Explanation:
Back when medical records were dictated by the physician and typed out by a typist, the latter would add their initials at the end of the transcript, e.g. ‘el Maija Meikäläinen/ab’, where ‘ab’ would be the initials of the typist.
