la loi attribue le droit d'agir the law confers the right of action Explanation: Translation of Article 31 that used to be available on Legifrance: EN: "The right of action is available to all those who have a legitimate interest in the success or dismissal of a claim, without prejudice to those cases where ***the law confers the right of action*** solely upon persons whom it authorises to raise or oppose a claim, or to defend a particular interest." Although the quality of the English translations that were published on Legifrance varied, I think this is a good one. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2021-04-26 11:06:55 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- "les attributions légales du droit d'agir" > the right to bring an action conferred by the [or French] law I think (hopefully, I humbly submit) that you have the bones of the wording you need above to work into your translations. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2021-04-26 12:28:33 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- To Mpoma: ah, in fairness to you sometimes the Legifrance translations are good, sometimes mediocre, not necessarily the mandatory first port of call! I had a look in Bridge first. Pedants corner: they should be referring to "article L. 123" of the Code! Needed to get that out of my system! -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2021-04-26 12:29:16 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Correction: Pedants' Oh the irony! |
