Although I think they are referring to "input" they use "entrada" for input throughout the text, sometimes in the same sentence as valor so I have decided to stick to "value". I have used "count" instead of "detect". I'm still not 100% sure about the way I have phrased this or what the "correct" way of saying this is, but I just had to make up my mind. I think the text is already a translation from another language which doesn't make my job any easier :-( Thanks to all of you for you input (haha, had to say it!) and suggestions. H.

Explanation:
Many computer programs are written so that any input goes into a location with a name. So if you have to push a key to keep the screen from going dark, the space or whatever goes into a location. As I understand it, if this machine doesn't get any indication that someone is using it, it sounds the alarm.

That said, I fully agree with Mr. Burgess and abc9343 that it sounds really odd.
