Spanish term or phrase: fierrito
This is from a text about the work of Chilean artist Cecilia Vicuña who works with bits of trash. My question here is really if fierrito is necessarily a piece of iron or if it could be applied to any metal. Also, I am not finding a nifty phrase from the dimunitive in this case (with the others in the list, I have):

Asker: Pretty sure that is not what she is talking about here. It is a bit of trash. Any other ideas?

agree  patinba: In this context (bits of rubbish found in the sand) "fierritos" means any little strips of scrap metal."Small bits of (pieces of) thread, wool, metal" would be fine for Asker's translation, and avoids resorting to odd terms such as "wirelings. "
