It does not actually say this in the text, it is my inference. As I said, the product is called "madurante", which improves the quality of the crop harvested, although it may kill off weeds as well, as a secondary effect, based on your possible definition of "corazón herido". I can come to no other conclusion.
Sorry to keep asking questions, but when you say "may have herbicidal action", is that what the text says, or your suggestion? And is it why you originally said herbicide?
You may be right, although there is no other reference in the document to either weeds or "corazón herida", although the "madurante" may have herbicidal action and kill off weeds, particularly this one as it is found amongst crops.
You originally said it was a herbicide. This would be consistent with Nepalese smartweed, Polygonum nepalense, whose Spanish common name is "corazón herido". Could you clarify your slightly confusing context, please? Also, I don't know if you saw the last sentence of my question asking if "corazón herido" appears elsewhere in the text. Thanks! http://agrobaseapp.com/colombia/weed/corazon-herido
This is an agricultural term, not a statistical one. Liz's helpful references suggest it may be damage caused by the sugarcane borer, Diatraea considerata.
Neil, is it definitely a herbicide and not a pesticide? And does it mention "corazón herido" anywhere else in your document?
